I'm glad I'm not the only one playing the FD over and over... I'm trying to find out what they changed since China. Can't watch it often enough Was it me or that final part with the choreographic lift was completely messed up today and out of rhythm? It looked so much better at the CoC. I agree! That last lift looked odd. She's just hanging on his shoulders It's exactly the same as in China though, but Maxim seems to slip a little bit here while in China he kept skating at full speed the whole time

It doesn't seem like they changed a lot from China actually. The more I look at today's FD though, the more I think they didn't deserve scores this low! It was bad, I admit it, but 5 points difference with K/N sounds too much to me. K/N best FD of the season so far? Really?

It was bad, I admit it, but 5 points difference with K/N sounds too much to me. K/N best FD of the season so far? Really? Well it's K/N's home grand prix so that accounts for the high PCS scores. Jana and Sergei do NOT have the same skating skills as Oksana and Maxim, not by far, but their dance is entertaining. Oksana and Maxim scored nearly 4 points lower on TES than in China because both footwork sequences scored lower here for some reason and that last spin was downgraded. I think I would have had Meryl and Charlie first in the FD. It is so difficult to judge dances from a tv screen though. I didn't really like Delobel and Schoenfelder's FD when I saw it on tv but I was impressed when I saw it live in Paris last week... I think the best thing Oksana and Maxim can do now is work on the steps, make them look faster and smoother

Sure enough they have a lot of work to do: I doubt we'll see a lot of progress by the GPF. Most likely it will not be ready before the Russian Nationals and The Euros, if the skating gods are with them.

from ice-dance.com www.ice-dance.com/events-results/reports/cupofrussia08/blog/About the Original Dance I liked Domnina & Shabalin. I found them very much in style and very, very classy. Their program also is very well choreographed. However, this was not one of their best skates as they looked a bit slow today even for a waltz, and there was no power in their strokes compared to the power they usually have. We also found that their step sequences were a bit flat, and they occasionally jumped on their footwork. This was especially true in the parallel step sequence where they both jumped in their Mohawk. I think those little mistakes were what stopped them from getting first place tonight. About the Free Dance Domnina & Shabalin today unfortunately looked a little out of shape. They looked rather slow and unpolished, but you can see that this couple is a couple who is thinking big. They were the only couple in this competition who used a variety of interesting holds and positions in their step sequences. When these little things will be executed well, they will look a head above all the couples who are scared of moving away from just plain waltz and Kilian position in step sequences. However, this is understandable, as Maxim has had months off the ice. When I saw him backstage, he was still limping, which is why I think they had troubles in their step sequences and footwork. They also had some troubles on their spin. However, the program has a lot of potential. All it needs it time to polish it up. Hopefully, at the Grand Prix Final, we will see what this program is really meant to look like, and what place they deserve to come.

Ah, that is so sad to hear: if Max is limping so early in the season how is he going to be able to compete the whole season? Besides being in constant pain, this could cripple him for life. There's nothing more that I want than to see them competing in Vancouver, but if this means that he has to compromise his health for this, then I'm not sure it is really worth it! Skating Gods, please watch over him No seriously, if I believed in god I I'd pray for him at this stage... Sad...so, so very sad
