I was surprised when knew about this nice forum and not Russian people who love Oksana and Max as much as I do. There are less people than in russian forum but you are so active. I'm grateful for all your photos, videos, infa and so on. My special thanks to Xavier. I know there are some russians but if you need to translate smth you are welcome. Russian fans have and disscus latest big interview. Unfortunetly it's audio (it was on radio). I don't know may be U have it or may be it's not interesting because it's in Russian but interview is funny as many other www.mediafire.com/file/m5mnomvm4ff/Thants Katya for the link If U want I can translate it Thank you for the compliments! It's great that the forum is so active! And a warm welcome to you! It would be great if you could provide a translation of the interview for everyone who doesn't understand it. A short summary of what they say would already be very nice!

It's too difficult ))) (Am I allowed to ask personal questions here?) I started to study Russian for understand the interviews of Oksana & Maxim, when I met them only exist 2 sites, Renee's (in English) and a Russian site with Russian info, so as maybe you can see I'm very big fan of them ;D Russian it's difficult and very different to Spanish, also its difficult to find books or Russian material here in Mexico, but I like it so much! In LA I gave a little letter to Oksana & Maxim in Russian, I was very happy

I would like to ask everybody how did you come to it? I mean how did you begin to like Oksana and Maxim's skating. As far as I understand this topic hasn't been discussed yet or I missed it?

It's huge. The first part. My English is too far from perfection so I did it as I could. If the presenter’s questions were understandable in answers I didn’t translate them. My comments are in brackets. I hope you’ll like it)))
P: The guys have just flied from America and they have some problems with time difference between America and Russia. How are you spending the first days in Moscow and how do you feel after such great victory? O: We don’t almost have the problems with time except I wasn’t sleep since 2 to 4 at night. But everything is good with it. P: Did you realize your victory at last? O: Of course. And now I’m sitting here and couldn’t help laughing. Of course some days later it’s coming to me, everybody congratulates me. I understand I’m really the world champion and it sounds rather loudly. When you sit there in “kiss and cry”, you don’t understand it, don’t feel it and don’t have any emotions because all of your emotions you give on the ice and you feel empty inside you and nothing left to joy. P: Oksana said the rest of days in America she was going to take sunbath. How did you spend those days? O: I really wanted to take sunbath but I didn’t succeeded. P: Why? O: Because of gala show, trainings. It’s kinda… P: Maxim, why during competitions you are a speaker in your duet but here Oksana is. O: Maxim speaks English and I speak Russian. M: I am surprised a little bit at Oksana’s talkativeness. I have no chance to say even a word. She is speaking and speaking, speaking and speaking. O: You spoke on everything in America. P: Didn’t U really learn English yet? O: I feel shy. So… Maxim speaks well there (in America) that’s why… P: How did you live in America, train in America? How did you accustom? O: Come on, Maxim, answer. P: Otherwise nobody will believe me Maxim is sitting in the studio. M: I can’t say we have accustomed completely. Only little time passed to accustom completely. It’s short time. In order to accustom and live there it must take time about… P: (She interrupted him) How long have you lived there? M: We have lived there since July. In order to accustom there it seems to me 3 or 4 years must pass. Moreover you must be involved in that life. We spend our life on the skating rink most time and in the place where we live. And some shops. That’s why we take it as training gathering but not as a… O: Life. M: … a try of adaptation. Yes, not as a life in America. M: We live in the condominium. It’s kind of complex where one can rent a flat. It’s rather comfortable. M: No, it’s not a type of training (sport) town. People of different professions live there. O: It’s an ordinary village. P: What are U doing there? O: We are training. M: We are training. P: Since July to April?! O: What else? What did we go there for? For training. In this period of time it’s our life. M: It’s self-restriction. We do it knowingly, because there is no another way if you want to achieve something. 90% of our time is connected with it. P: You said America had made you franker, friendlier. Now there are no American journalists. Say the truth. M: But they can listen to us. For sure there are some American journalists among the auditorium. If I say it was not true I will look as a hypocrite in my own eyes. P: Well, you felt joy because of your victory and you could say anything. M: How can I say? It turns out that I lied? ______ M: There are nice people and not so good people in America as anywhere. We communicate with Tanya (Maxim’s Russian variant of Tanith’s name) and Ben. And other figure-skaters. ______ O: I think everybody has already known we have wonderful relations inside our couple. We quarrel very seldom. Everything is calmly and peacefully. M: Because we take care of our relations. Even if some emotions go too far we try not to touch each other by these emotions. O: What for do we need to shout, quarrel, offend each other? We can peacefully separate, breathe out and say: I’m a ball. I’m a big ball. Nobody touches me. P: Do you have such relations from the very beginning? (O & M’s laughter) M: Yes. Well, yes. P: How can you describe each other? (O & M’s laughter) O: Calm, easy-tempered… P: Dressed in summer trousers. O. Dressed in summer trousers in winter. M: It means not to pay attention to the conventionalities. The same qualities are for Oksana plus purposefulness and of course beauty. ____ O: No, we didn’t get something new from this World championship but it was serious experience. It will be another competition in the Olympic game, another kind of nerves. M: It’s nice we won. P: Everybody wanted to see your duel with the French (Delobel - Shonfelder). How seriously will you compete with the French or it’s just one more couple. M: It’s just one more couple. O: It wasn’t easier without the French. If they are in the OG or if they are not it’s not so important for us mostly. There will be enough rivals in OG. O: The first six couples are strong enough. ____ About Virtue-Moir M: Virtue-Moir are very gifted guys. But we could see some couples for whom the praises were sung also and what? P: But they are Canadians in Canada. M: So what? Americans were in America (about OG) P: And they won. They won over our Ira S (the site doesn't want to write her surname). M: Nobody knows what will be. What sense to talk about that? They are very gifted guys but we have no fear about them. ______ P: How do you get on Belbin Agosto? You always say you are great friends and… O: Well, no… M: No. We don’t say we are such great friends. We say we just friends. But we don’t say we are super close friends. P: How can you be friends if you are the main competitors? O: So what? We are the main competitors on ice. We don’t say we leave the skating rink and go together somewhere that we are always together. For me friends means to be out of ice together, usually go together, do shopping, meet, communicate. P: You go together? O: No. We communicate on ice, on the skating rink, in trainings. O: No, in the condominium we doesn’t cross M: Why? I do. O: We have normal human relations. We are neither super friends nor enemies. _______ About costumes. O: We tell about our costumes that we have a lot of them in this season. We sewed them everywhere: in Moscow, in America, in St. Petersburg. Our last costumes for free dance were sewn in the Bolshoy Theatre in Moscow (The Big Theatre). P: Indeed? O: Indeed! Well, there are a lot of places where we create our costumes. Not we but for us. Of course we take part in the process but in this season it came out that some costumes were sewn without trying on. Some of costumes were sent just in competitions. They were our first costumes in the beginning of season before the first start. When we came to China we were given these costumes. P: Did everything fit and suit? M: No O: Not everything (O & M’s laughter)
O: No, unfortunately we didn’t refuse of such customary (to sew costumes without trying on) because we don’t have another way out. It’s impossible to leave in America and sew costumes in Moscow or in Peter (St. Petersburg), to fly here and there. P: Can you do it in America? M: We don’t know places where everything will be done well. We tried to sew a dress for original (dance) in America. O: A women sewed a dress for me. O: Yes, it helped me. Yes, but… Well, I can say it’s normally. O: For Vancouver I think we’ll sew costumes the same way – everywhere. It will depend on theme, idea and dance. M: Anywhere you can have 100% direct hit and vice versa. O: Matter of course. But if you have a chance to try on costumes constantly it will be better. M: Naturally. In Peter we work with people who have known us for a long time, we have known them for a long time. It’s easier to work with them than with anybody in America. We would have to do it anew and it would take time for some years to fix it.

_____ O: I think we’ll come for some gathering in Russia. P: When does a new season start? Will they give a rest to you? O: We are resting. P: You have just rested for a week! M: As a matter of fact that’s all. P: Is it difficult for Russians who went to America to watch their weight? (O & M’s laughter) M: I can’t say it’s difficult or not. I don’t have problem with weight. But food is different from ours. This is true. It has synthetical taste. It has the taste of plastic. You have to find good food. There are few good grocery shops there but you have to find them. You need to go there purposefully. M: Yes, some time later we found such groceries. No, we don’t have a cook or a person who chooses a meal and cooks unfortunately. (O & M’s laughter) P: Hockey player have. M: A hockey team doesn’t consist of 2 persons but 22. So hockey players need cooks. We don’t. _____ About Russians skaters. O: We have good results in this season except boys. P: On the other hand should the country which took the whole pedestal be glad of one gold medal and one bronze? M: Should we cry? P: It’s a deadlock question for me. I wish pedestal were ours. M: You think we don’t wish? We want it too. O: Everybody wants it. The whole Russians want it. (O & M’s laughter) M: We want to have 4 gold. It’s better take the whole pedestal.
A part where they discussed our skating in details I missed. ___ M: I can’t say about my health anything yet. I’m making a visa to Germany now and within the next few days I fly to there. After that I will be able to say something about my health. P: Well, you…er… will you be able to hold out till the Olympic Games? M: I’ll do everything for it. M: It’s difficult questions how much I cut down myself in skating because of injury. P: Can you skate better? M: 100%. __ P: Do you have ideas about new programs? M: We do but we won’t say it. P: Tell about emotional part of your new programs if nothing else. M: The emotional part will be make up 120%, the technical part – 130% (Max would have been a good mathematician))). Absolutely new elements! (O &M’s laughter) P: Do you introduce some new elements, lifts or you do what your trainers say. M: It’s common process. Everybody of us introduces his or her own ideas and we boil them in the common pan. (It’s Russian idiom. Sorry I can’t translate it with equivalence). After that we have something. P: Who of you is more creative? M: Strange question. Provocative. We don’t divide it between us. P: O’K. Whose ideas accept more often? M: We don’t count what number of ideas we have! I have 15, Oksana has 16. No.
Hobbies. M: Of course I have passions except figure skating. They change from time to time. I like reading very much. I try to spend my free time for reading. P: Newspapers? Literature? M: Only literature. Newspapers? “Don’t read before dinner Soviet newspapers. And we don’t have others” (the last phrase they said in chorus with the presenter. It’s quotation from “Dog’s heart” by Mihail Bulgakov). I read only literature but not everything I can see in shops. P: What was the last book you read? M: The last? (outward breath). I don’t remember. I… I read many books at once. P: Many people do like that. M: That’s why when I’m in mood to return to a certain book… I think I reread Anna Karenina. It was my last book. Usually I read classical works and some modern books which are advised by my friends or mates. M: My favorite books are Russian classic: Dostoevsky, Tolstoy. P: What a nightmare. (O & Pr’s laughter) O: I have nothing to say. I’ll keep silent. (O & Pr’s laughter) P: Dostoevsky is a variant for foreigners who can say: “Oh, Russian literature! Dostoevsky!” because they don’t know anybody except him. M: Dostoevsky is a variant for foreigners? What are you talking about? Russian people must read Dostoevsky. P: Undoubtedly but…er… O: But nobody reads him. (O & Pr’s laughter) P: No, actually I’m impressed that an athlete’s favorite writer, a world champion’s favorite writer is Dostoevsky. M: Does it sound funny? M: It’s sad that it sounds funny (laugh). P: Okana, I would like to know your secret passions. O: I don’t have secret passions. I read books seldom. I don’t know what to say. After Max I have nothing to surprise you. P: You have to make a gala using Russians classic. M: We think about it. May be we’ll take a beautiful romance. ____ About other skaters. O: No, nobody makes dull your edges or put needles into your clothes. It’s ancient history. P: Is it possible in general? O: In general it is. But we didn’t see it of late. ____ M: I can’t say I have close friends among competitors. I have a lot of friends among figure-skaters because it’s our life. P: But you don’t have friends among dancers. You are friends with skaters of other types of figure skating. M: Why? O: But we have. They are just not from the first five couples. M: I’m friend with Sergey Verbilo. O: And I’m friend with his partner Anna. M: They are Ukraine guys. O: They just live not far. It takes two hours' journey. They are only people there with whom we can communicate really. M: Our friendship has begun long ago. The funny moment was when we came to America and guys return to Russia and they are in Odintsovo for gathering. Who could say one year ago that everything was changed? P: Do you have omens? M: No, we are not superstitious people. Some time ago I had omens. For example didn’t step on a hatch of sewerage (I hope I used vocabulary correctly). P: On a hatch of sewerage? M: Yes. In my child hood when we stepped on a hatch of sewerage we had to knock somewhere.
About Sochi P: I know you are ambassadors of the OG in Sochi. What does it mean? Are you going to perform there? M: Let’s we perform in Vancouver at least. O: Then we’ll talk about Sochi. P: What does it mean really? M: We were told if we wanted to warm Russians amateurs’ interest to Olympiad? (Is it necessary?!) M: Of course we agreed. The OG is a holiday. It’s very good for Russia I think. P: So it was like an impromptu. Nobody talked it to you before. M: They came to us and asked before making us the ambassadors. P: It was after your performance wasn’t it? O: Of course. P: And right away they gave diplomas to you. O: One day later. P: If you hadn’t won they wouldn’t have given the diplomas to you? M: Nobody knows it. ___ P: I know in your type of sport a supporting each other is very important. I know boys (men-skaters) watched you. O: To watch performances of each other is normal. P: We worry about our guys and support them too. P: Were you glad of our bronze? M: Of course. O: I was very glad of Alena. P: Why? O: Because we have big problems with girls. P: It’s because you, Oksana, didn’t go to make ladies singles. O: What kind of ladies singles is for me? (laughter) ____ About their holiday. M: You know I’ll fly to German (2 or 3 days ago Max went to Germany to be examined by doctors, Oksana enjoys Motherland, Moscow, Odintsovo, friends, relatives and Roma.). O: As soon Maxim comes from Germany we’ll start to prepare for next season effectively. P: You are workaholic. O: What can we do? M: There is no another way.
I corrected it several times. I think it's last variant )))
