ISU SBS Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (Junior & Senior), Day 2
Senior Ice Dancing, Original Dance The senior competition opened with the Original Dance. Isabelle Delobel/Olivier Schoenfelder of France danced to the lead, followed closely by Russia’s Oksana Domnina/Maxim Shabalin. Federica Faiella/Massimo Scali from Italy came in third.
Delobel/Schoenfelder put out a lively Boogie Woogie that was highlighted by a smooth side by side step sequence (level three), a level three circular step sequence and a straight line lift with changes of position for her. The spin however got only a level two. The reigning World Champions earned a new seasons best of 60.35 points (29.80 element score/30.55 program component score). “I think this was the best performance of the season of this program. We are really happy with it for today”, Delobel commented. “The audience in Korea was great, very supportive and we fed off their energy. We still had to stay focused and do the rest of our program, but it felt really good.” When asked about their goals, she answered: “We want to win and to hear the Marseillaise like today for Florent Amodio. We just arrived and saw that he did a great program.” Domnina/Shabalin danced their charming Shostakovitch Waltz with beautiful flow. The reigning European Champions completed intricate footwork, earning a level three for both the midline and the circular steps, and a level four dance spin. With 59.33 points (29.80/29.53) the couple scored a seasons best as well and is just 1.02 points behind the leaders. Faiella/Scali’s entertaining Tap Dance to famous songs from the “Follow the Fleet” soundtrack featured a level four diagonal step sequence, fast twizzles and a one-armed rotational lift. The Italian Champions were awarded 57.89 points (29.90/27.99). Jana Khokhlova/Sergei Novitski (RUS) withdrew after the warm up from the competition as he was suffering from a stomach set up and unable to skate.

I am just back from the arena. ;D In short, Oksana and Maxim placed second overall after some wobbles in FD. Delobel/Schoenfelder showed a sound performance and took the gold. But the audience was just fascinated by Domshab's presentation, especially at OD!!! They looked magnificent on ice and lovely and friendly off ice.
I was there with a banner in black & yellow, saying "Domnina Shabalin." There were other two ohter banners cheering them, quite large and well-printed ones! Both were "Oksana and Maxim". I am not sure if any of them were televised or not, but I hope Oksana and Maxim saw them and were cheered by them. I believe many Korean fans have taken a lot of pictures of Oksana and Maxim. Hopefully I will upload them here too!
...and I have a really funny news about my gift ;D

I was just blown away when I found an email which Oksana herself sent to me!!! She expressed her gratitude for the gift there, and, she asked me if I can make more books! She even said they are willing to pay for them. I was really surprised but I thought it would be somewhat weird to give them more books in return for their money. So many Korean fans raised money--enough money for making more than 30 books (Oksana wanted 20 to 30). I reordered the books yesterday and the publishing company completed the order today. Frenzy. ;D Now the books are already delivered to the official hotel of this competition. I am going to give the books to them tomorrow, before they go to closing banquet. Maybe this would be the most interesting exprience I have ever had ;D ;D ;D

We told you they would love the book, didn't we! ;D Wonderful job, you deserve all the good things that are coming from it! ;D Thanks for making them happy, and please give them a hug from us all.
