It seems now official tha banners WILL NOT be returned! www.iceskatingintnl.com/current/content/2009%20worlds%20banners%20and%20cameras.htm[/size] Of course there is a practical way of doing it, but it seems like they don't care about making the extra effort! Sad! What shall we do? The banner that I was goig to have brought there costs around €70. I know it will still serve the purpose of having the banner there, but it seems such a big waste to just have it thrown in the garbage!

So stupid! There are many fans bringing banners, always... It is a big waste to make a banner and than have it thrown away. Would be better to just have a cheap hand-painted one, like on an old sheet or something. Save the expensive banner for a friendlier competition.

simple stickers or name-tags on the banners would already do the trick... nobody's asking the organization to ship the banners back to wherever the might live.

Exactly! Who the hell is expecting them to ship back the banners? Just have them ready at a collection point by Sunday, sure it can't be that hard to figure it out. Of course that would require a minimum effort on their part which obviously they seem not ready to make! An empty competition with no banners, that's what they'll get! And they will only have to blame their greed and unconsideration for it!

but the good news is that it's March already and that Worlds is less than a month away and that Maxim seems to be healing well.

I have some nightshifts during the first days of the competition. That means bringing my laptop to work so I can watch some of it. Am free on Friday and Saturday though so I'm fine for the FD.

This is awfully sad for them! This year them, last year Oksana and Maxim. I hate the fact that some undeserving couple will benefit from the best couples' recent bad luck...if you catch my drift!!!

Change of Policy - Banners WILL be returned
I wrote an email to the Organizing Committee literally begging them to change the "no return" policy on banners, and suggesting a practical method to return the banners to the fans. I don't know how that happened, but it seems like it worked! I must have sounded pretty desperate!
This is the reply I got!
When you bring your banner to STAPLES Center, you will be required to check it into Guest Services for hanging by arena staff. They will give you a ticket receipt.
At the end of competition Saturday night, STAPLES Center will take down the banners and return to Guest Services. Fans may pick up their banners with exchange of their ticket receipt only on Sunday, March 29th. Please also know that velcro will be affixed to the back of the banners.
